Grains for carnivores???

Shadrach the contemplative Neo Mastiff

Arrrooo fellow pets and humans! I LOVE Jeannie, she’s my friend! She knows I like to eat meat and bones. She tells other folks who don’t get it why these grains are so not good for us carnivores. All I can say is, TELL IT Jeannie, WOOF!

“…the reason SOME dogs develop allergies to Brewers Yeast and Flax seed/flax seed oil is because The Creator did not design them to need or use them in their body.

Allergies are simply symptoms of something deeper going on it the animal. When an animal’s system has to work over time or harder then it was designed to by trying to digest and assimilate foods and products that they were not intended to need or use, the immune system becomes blocked and clogged up. Toxins are not able to be removed as quickly or as well as they normally would. Over time, dis-eases will develop.

Many dogs and even cats can do okay with Brewers yeast or grains or flax seeds all of their lives if they are healthy in all respects and you will most likely will never see a problem.

The point is that they do not NEED these supplements when fed a fresh, raw meat and bone diet and are not over vaccinated or bombarded by chemicals in the home and in products used on them. It is not that these are unhealthy products, in fact, compared to the general diet of dogs and cats (kibble) these are wonderful nutritional supplements when given in moderation throughout the year. The facts are that the B-vitamins, Zinc etc found in Brewers yeast and the omega oils found in Flax seeds are more “bio” available and readily assimilated in the natural diet of raw meat.

You see, dogs may have been domesticated but they have NOT evolved. They still have the same digestive system, teeth, muscles, etc. that their wild cousins in the wild do. They have not developed different enzymes for breaking down cooked foods or grains or veggies. They have not developed chewing/grinding molars, etc. They look and work exactly the same on the inside as a wolf or coyote does. They just look different outside.

It would sure be wise with unhealthy dogs or ones with compromised immune systems to recommend NOT to give any Brewers Yeast, Flax seed oil, grains, too many veggies or fruit, etc. until it has cleansed and its immune system is working well again.
